When Cersei Lannister was five years old she went to her nanny and told her that she wanted to be a soldier. She stole her brothers GI-Joes and pointed out how she wanted to be strong and brave and have nobody tell her no. Tywin Lannister did not bother to hit her-she instead received the barbie section of the toy-store for her birthday. When she forced them to fight horrific yet noble battles she was told she had to take piano lessons. From age five to seven she was drilled on the piano until she couldn't take it and she punched the old woman sent to teach her piano in the face. He did not hit, instead for each activity she rejected a new one would take it's place-one that she would be compelled to attend and all of which were of the feminine variety. She stole one GI-Joe from her brother and kept it until that age all children hit when toys become meaningless to remind her just how much she hated her sex.

That's not to say that being a woman did not have some distinct advantages. In school she was queen in all but name of the cliques that ruled the yard by virtue of her knowledge of the intimate female touches. She was more grown up then the other girls purely because of her knowledge of these secret mysteries. She couldn't explain it, just that her brother fit her better then all other things in her life combined. For someone who hated being a girl, she knew and knows how to act just like one and does so without compunction. She has no love for what she is, just a love of who she is and the people who know who she is and that is-unequivocally-her twin. Jamie who watched uselessly when she went through lesson after lesson, who shared his toys and offered physical comfort when no one else would.

III.

When Cersei Lannister was 14 she was invited duck hunting with her Uncle Kevan and her Aunt Genna and a number of other Lannisters. Through some mischance of old southern luck Tywin decided that a woman should know how to handle a weapon. Through some quirk of genetics she can outshoot everyone-except her twin. (and to this day she suspects Jamie didn't try.) Rather then admit to being bested by his own daughter, he encouraged her exploits and criticized her skills when they were not "up to a standard."

At the Lannister homestead there is a buck with a massive antler-span that Cersei shot. Throughout her childhood it was a source of pride. She does not know that when she is NOT there, Tywin claims that his son is responsible.

II.

Sex to Cersei is a means for comfort. Children happened when they happened and given that they had only happened with her brother she looked at them as direct reminders of him. When she was first married to Robert Baratheon she became pregnant. She aborted the baby without a second thought. Cersei Lannister has strange views regarding life, perhaps because she felt her own was so unregarded. The people who adore her she will fight for with every waking breath-her children, her brother. The people who hate her or disregard her she will ignore utterly. "Everyone who isn't us is an enemy" indeed.

I.

Cersei Lannister hates weakness. If she cannot do something (perhaps in tribute to her childhood string of lessons denying her the right to do what she wanted) she does it and even if she does it poorly she still does it. She has an incredible, incredible strength of will. Cleaning up shit, vomit, excrament, taking out garbage, lighting fires, butchering animals, wading through muck, witnessing horrors. She will do it all but if the strain is too great Jamie Lannister might get an email that night and she will confess her feelings and that will be that.

~and one lie.

She is happy in her marriage and a loyal and supportive member of her husband's campaign and the choices he makes.

But that, should be obvious.
